COVID-19 Vaccinator

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Job Introduction

Last year, thousands of people stepped forward to offer their time and skills to support NHS England’s Covid-19 vaccination campaign. Because of them we were able to roll out primary vaccinations to millions of people quickly, saving thousands of lives.

Now, with the emergence of the Omicron variant, the vaccination programme is being ramped up further. And we are once again recruiting thousands of paid roles to help us deliver booster vaccinations across England.

The role

As the job title suggests, you will be responsible for delivering vaccinations to patients who visit the vaccination centre.

Working as part of a dynamic team, you will ensure your vaccination station is configured in line with the requirements of the mass vaccination delivery model. Supervised by a registered healthcare professional, you’ll also take responsibility for the safe disposal of clinical waste and for changing your PPE in line with national guidelines. Strict adherence to infection control practices between individuals will also be required.

You’ll prepare and administer the dose to already consented and assessed individuals. Observing the patient’s immediate reaction to the vaccine is vital, and you may need to refer them to a registered healthcare professional or the post-vaccination observation area. At busy times, you may also need to help update records and support with other administrative tasks.

Who we are looking for

We will train you to deliver COVID-19 vaccinations, but you will need to be educated to NVQ3 level in a relevant subject. You will also have received First Aid training and ideally have experience of administering vaccines and providing immunisation advice as part of a primary care team.

Where you’ll be working

We are looking for Vaccinators to join us across all regions in England. If your application is successful, you will be given the opportunity to work at one or several of the vaccination centres in your region.
