Last year, thousands of people stepped forward to offer their time and skills to support NHS England’s Covid-19 vaccination campaign. Because of them we were able to roll out primary vaccinations to millions of people quickly, saving thousands of lives.
Now, with the emergence of the Omicron variant, the vaccination programme is being ramped up further. And we are once again recruiting thousands of paid roles to help us deliver booster vaccinations across England.
As the job title suggests, you will be responsible for delivering vaccinations to patients who visit the vaccination centre.
Working as part of a dynamic team, you will ensure your vaccination station is configured in line with the requirements of the mass vaccination delivery model. Supervised by a registered healthcare professional, you’ll also take responsibility for the safe disposal of clinical waste and for changing your PPE in line with national guidelines. Strict adherence to infection control practices between individuals will also be required.
You’ll prepare and administer the dose to already consented and assessed individuals. Observing the patient’s immediate reaction to the vaccine is vital, and you may need to refer them to a registered healthcare professional or the post-vaccination observation area. At busy times, you may also need to help update records and support with other administrative tasks.
Who we are looking for
As part of the process, you'll receive training to prepare you for your role.
This role calls for self-motivated and committed individuals who:
-Have 12 months experience of working in a health or social care role
-OR, are qualified to NVQ 3 Level or equivalent (e.g. 2 A Levels / National Diploma) and have either qualified in (or are studying) a health related subject or have undertaken training in Emergency First Aid or Life Support in the last 12 months
You’ll need to be a great team player and you’ll be determined to play your part in ensuring the ongoing success of the national immunisation programme.
Where you’ll be working
We are looking for Vaccinators to join us across all regions in England. If your application is successful, you will be given the opportunity to work at one or several of the vaccination centres in your region.
